Let’s begin by examining the traditional tank-type water heater. Basically you have a big barrel of water with a fire under it. (We will get to electric water heaters shortly.) If you put the fireplace right under the barrel with the chimney through the center of the barrel then you have a pretty good idea of how a gas water heater heats the water.

There are several manufacturers of hybrid water heaters that use a combination storage tank and tankless water heater. The idea is to eliminate some of the problems associated with tankless water heaters while still taking advantage of the positive side of tankless heaters like high energy efficiency and endless hot water. By using a much smaller tank the standby losses are much smaller than those associated with a full sized gas storage tank type water heater.

I was asked by a potential customer a few days ago about using a solar water heater in conjunction with a tankless water heater. I think using a solar water heater to feed a tankless water heater is a great idea and a green idea at that. Solar water heaters come in a variety of types. Some are passive and do not require a pump, some do require one or more pumps, some directly heat the potable water, and some use indirect means to heat the potable water.

If you are thinking of remodeling your kitchen or bath, or even just making some smaller home improvement to your kitchen or your bathroom, why not go green with your improvements?

The Voltex hybrid water heater mates a heat pump water heater with an electric storage water heater. Heat pump water heaters are very efficient. They operate much like your refrigerator or air conditioner. They pull heat out of the air and instead of transferring it to back to the air as your air conditioner does, it uses it to heat water.

If you are looking at tankless water heater prices then you might want to consider pricing them at sites that have installation available in your area. Proper installation is critical for tankless water heaters, much more so than standard tank type water heaters.

A heater is an essential commodity for people living in cold regions. Installing a heater inside the house becomes necessary where the outside temperature falls below -10ԼC. Just thinking about such low temperatures gives us the shiver. There are a variety of ways to maintain a comfortable warm atmosphere in the house.

Now that you've heated your water for free from the sun, it's time to address the hot water delivery system. Stop standing there with your hand in the shower stream waiting for the water to get hot! Sending water down the drain while you wait just makes it that much worse. But there is a solution!

Several types of hot water circulating systems are discussed and compared. By choosing the correct system for your needs you can benefit from faster hot water and be kind to the planet and environment at the same time.

Quite often I am asked if it is safe to drink water that has passed through the water heater. My staunch opinion is that it is safe. Why do I think it is ok to drink hot water from the water heater? Well, there are a number of reasons. The water coming in from the water main or well enters the water heater and is then heated. Hot water is less capable of holding on to the dissolved minerals common in water, so some of the minerals, primarily calcium and magnesium, come out of solution and settle at the bottom of the tank. This is the sediment that accumulates in the water heater.

Well, we've all encountered some sort of problem with our car's heater, and for some reason it always happens when the weather is cold. You're thinking oh it's cold outside, but all I have to do is walk from my home to my car. And I'll be warm and toasty in no time, but of course it doesn't always happen. But before you think about calling your mechanic you might be able to do the job yourself. Wouldn't that be great?

Going green is getting to be quite a popular thing to do these days. Many people are purchasing tankless water heaters with the idea that they are purchasing a "green plumbing product". But just how green are they? Well, are they greener than a standard tank type water heater? They are not more efficient at heating water than electric storage water heaters or gas water heaters. However, they do not have a storage tank and therefore do not suffer the standby losses that a tank type heater has.

Tankless water heaters sales have been booming lately. Unlimited hot water and energy savings are the features most often touted by the tankless water heater industry, and a smaller footprint is often mentioned. While they do provide an unlimited supply of hot water they are not without their own problems.

For anyone discovering this content, a solar powered water heater is an item that uses solar heat, or power from the sun, to heat water to heat your home. The great thing about a solar hot water heater is always that the heat it uses from the sunlight will not be turned into electricity like photovoltaic panels, which is good for efficiency and your electrical power bill every month.

If you have a tankless water heater then you probably already know that it takes longer to get hot water with a tankless water heater than with an old fashioned storage tank type water heater. While you wait for the hot water to arrive, you are running water down the drain. What a shame to have to waste water to save energy. But there is something you can do to change the situation.

I was looking over the owners manual for the Noritz tankless water heaters, models: Model N-0631S, N-0631S-OD, N-0531S, N-0531S-OD, and there were interesting thing in there. For instance, I read the following: "Do not drink water that has been inside the unit for an extended period of time. Do not drink the first use of hot water from the unit in the morning."
