People don't think that it's important, but the appearance of your house outside is just as vital as the interior decorations. When you bring people to your house, the first thing they will see is the outside appearance. If you have a crappy look outside, even if your house has a great design and well built inside, they will always have that impression that your house is terrible because of the outside appearance.

The weathervane is most often thought of as a metal rooster on the top of a barn that points in the direction of the blowing wind. That is a weathervane point in the direction of the origin of the wind. A compass rose is fixed below the rooster and points in the direction of the eight cardinal points of the earth. North, South, East, West and the four in betweens.

Learning to appreciate and admire our own culture is sometimes a tad bit overlooked by most, as is the essence of a weather vane. Life among the garden plants, vases, flowers, trees and birds at home sometimes also goes overlooked by those who are too busy to remember how far we have come as a civilization. Weathervanes are like instant memories.

There are few items that one can add to their home for functionality and artistic value. A wrought iron weathervane is one such item. In the days of old, the wrought iron weathervane was used to identify the direction of the wind. Today they are a beautiful accent to any yard and home regardless of the theme of your home.

The fastest growing alternative energy platform in the United States is the wind. No, I'm not blowing hot air.

Wrought iron is a beautiful material for home decor - both simple and unique. Take the weathervane, for example. A weathervane of wrought iron can be used to decorate the outside of a house. It becomes a functional piece (showing wind direction), but also offers a stylish accent to your home. Another common example of wrought iron home decor is in trivets containing iconic representations of cats, birds and other farm animals and symbols. These types of collectibles can be hung on walls or placed on shelves.

These days we can all measure the weather. For some the knowledge that it is cool or warm, wet or dry, windy or still, is enough. However for others it is good to record the weather and know exactly what is going on! There are five basic instruments needed for an accurate record of the weather. A rain gauge, anemometer (wind gauge), thermometer, barometer and weathervane.

Sheds are normally small buildings that are placed in a backyard that can be used for hobbies, workshops or storage. Most people who have sheds built often customize them depending on their needs. They are customized by adding windows, ventilation, shelves, electrical outlets and the like.
